When I stopped the Evista,the bone pain disappeared after 3 or 4 weeks entirely.

Because the tests show that I have osteoporosis in one hip, my doctor is prescribing Fosalan. Is it the same thing? Will I have the same problem?

Dear Lee B,

EVISTA (raloxifene hydrochloride) is an estrogen agonist/antagonist, commonly referred to as a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) that belongs to the benzothiophene class of compounds.

Fosalan is Fosamax which is a bisphosphonate drug.

I Read Dr. Shippen's book "The Testosterone Syndrome" and saw your comments re: your book review at amazon.com.

I was referred by my GP to a urologist (I can answer yes to all 10 of your diagnostic questions) after her sample of Levitra gave me nothing but a headache and clogged sinuses. This guy saw me twice and in a very diplomatic way let me know he was not interested in considering testosterone therapy.

I'm a 50-year-old blue collar worker whose wife is about ready to leave him (guess why!) and can't afford to just "try" another doctor in hopes that he is hip to this treatment!

By any chance, are you familiar with anybody in the (name deleted by webmaster) area, are that you could recommend? I'd come see you, but you're just a bit out of my neighborhood! (I'd be willing to drive a couple of hours--this is important to me and my family.) Thanks!!!

Jeffrey, for all that Naomi Wolfe and others have to say, it is still just a lot of hot air and no real action. Meanwhile, people in foreign lands die at the whim of the "Land of the Free".

Democrat or Republican - will anything really change for the better? Actions are set in place that will be near to impossible to change without there being major upheaval within the way the US is run and I can't see that ever happening, given the passivity and ignorance that abounds.

As an observer on the other side of the planet, my emotions are a mixture of anger and depression when I look at how the USA has squandered recent opportunities to lead the way in creating World peace and prosperity.

Instead, it seems those in charge are hell-bent on destruction for the sake of the pursuit of personal wealth, power and domination.

In a true democracy, the masses would be outraged and there would be rioting in the streets. Could you ever imagine what is happening in the US ever happening in a democracy like France - or New Zealand for that matter?

The passivity and support by the American people of what their leaders are doing is as outrageous as the actions of their Government.

If we want to see democracy in action, then we would be better off studying the Scandinavian form of social democracy than the American form that is better described as Rampant Capitalism.

Who said this: "War is the perfect expression of Capitalism"?

Have you looked into the Young Living oils for Frankincense and Myrrh? They also have a "red" antioxidant drink called Ninja Red. The argument for oils is interesting-I would love you hear your thoughts.

Thank you for the time you spend educating. Sources like this site are truly the only way to health going forward. We all have the responsibility to educate ourselves to where health care in this Country falls short. Just look around at the young people dying of Cancer-and old persons disease. It is truly the Black Death of today and no one "gets" it. It is frightening that our medical community, for the most part, is looking the other way.

I am also an ACAM member and an advocate or preventive medicine.

It is possible to reverse heart disease.

I run an aggressive plaque reversal program and have recently introduced blood viscosity testing to my risk stratification workup.

I am a big believer in the heart scan.

I enjoy your articles very much.

I have a history of high hyperlipidimia. My cholesterol levels at one time were 450 and triglycerids were over 1,000. I have used many of the statin drugs and I'm currently using Crestor 10mg.

I have hypothyroid and take Synthroid. I am currently on the Cookie Diet (Smart for life), lost 40 lbs. and my lipids went down to 176 and 173. I would like to get off Crestor and I also started taking Co Q10 100mg. I also take fish oil and other vitamins because of this diet, which is extremely restrictive.

I would like to get off the Crestor but I'm afraid my lipids will be elevated again.

What is your opinion? I also have very serious insomnia and do not know what to do in order to be able to sleep. I am 52 yrs. old and I'm in menopause. What is your advice for me? Thank you in advance and would like to hear from you.

The only adverse side effect of LDN is that it might interfere with sleep. It is quite safe.

I first wanted to thank you for your information on PCOS. I am 23 years old and was just diagnosed with PCOS. My gynecologist told me my only option was BC pills but with all the research I have done, I have found that's not true. I got a prescription for sprinolactone.

I want to try the progesterone cream (I have read that it is better than the oral because the skin absorbs it slower. Can you tell me the name of a progesterone cream that I can buy over the counter? I talked to the pharmacist and she wasn't sure.

My doctor told me to just buy it over the counter.

Dear Meridith,

I am very disappointed in your doctor. It is very "bad form" for your doctor to send you away with instructions to just "buy it over the counter". Your doctor should provide you with a prescription from a reputable compounding pharmacy, with detailed instructions, and then monitor your condition serially with follow up office visits. This disappointing behavior by your doctor is merely another indication that our medical system is broken.

Although it is possible to buy progesterone over the counter without a prescription and self administer, I do not recommend doing so. Instead, I recommend that anyone contemplating using topical progesterone should do so under the care of a knowledgable physican.
